This Website

olis.quest is a static page with self-hosted visit statistics and error reports on gizmos.quest infrastructure (c.gizmos.quest), used to count visits and to find what breaks. Each page sends its path, the referrer your browser sends (without its query or fragment), campaign tags in the link you followed, your screen width and browser language, a random number for that one page view (kept only in memory), how long the page was visible, the address and label of an outbound link (without its query or fragment), and, if a script on the page fails, the error with its stack, with addresses in it shortened the same way and email addresses removed. No persistent visitor identifier is kept on your device.

From the request the server derives a visitor hash that changes every calendar month, the country of your IP address, and your browser and operating system, including whether the client is an automated one; neither the IP address nor the full user agent is stored, and the secret salt behind the hash is deleted once the month is over.

To keep your browser out of these statistics, open the page with #lore-ignore at the end of its address; your browser sends nothing and, if local storage is allowed, remembers the choice for this site. If storage is refused, only the current page is excluded. #lore-track undoes the choice, and a short notice confirms what happened.

The page sets no cookies and embeds no third-party services, fonts, or media. The links to Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Twitch, X, and YouTube are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those services until you follow one, and from that point their own privacy policies apply. Besides these reports, the one request this page makes beyond loading itself is the Discord check described below, and only if you start it. Country data: IP Geolocation by DB-IP (db-ip.com).

Discord Verification

If you choose to join the Gizmos.Quest Discord, a self-hosted ALTCHA proof-of-work check runs on your device. The server temporarily associates the signed challenge and recent attempt times with your IP address to prevent automated abuse. Challenge data expires after two minutes; rate-limit data is removed shortly after its ten-minute window and is not used for analytics. No third-party CAPTCHA service, tracking cookie, or image puzzle is involved. After successful verification, leaving olis.quest for Discord is subject to Discord's own privacy policy.

Server-Logs

When you visit this website, technically necessary server logs may be created, for example IP address, time of access, requested URL, HTTP status, user agent, and referrer if your browser sends one. These logs are used for operation, security, and troubleshooting.
